Love Squad members visit Crystal Home

To live out one of the 3 objectives of their mission, which is Outreach,
the Love Squad members went to the Crystal Home. There are about
14 children from abused families, broken homes and very, very poor
families. On the day of the visit, there were only 8 children as the
rest went back to their families for the school holidays. The youngest,
an abused child is only 5, and the eldest is 16 who came to the Home
with her younger sister. They too have been abused by their father.
The Love Squad had an ice-breaking game besides other action games. T
hey went all out to make them feel loved, understood and cared for.
After a simple tea of Fried Bihoon and tea, there was a sharing of
their life's experiences. Chantal Dorai, who runs the Home took part
in the games also. She wishes that we will visit them more often as the
children needed to be with other children outside the Home. She further
explained that she chose"Cyrstal" because when the girls first came to
the home, they are nothing to other people. So by the time they leave
the home she wants them to be someone special and priceless like a crystal...
bright and shining and for her every girl is like a princess.

Recycling Programme by the Love Squad

The Love Squad started the Recycling Programme focusing on the virtue of
RESPONSIBILITY which is one of the objectives of the Parish besides the
3 Objectives of the Love Squad Mission. The Blue House which is the collection
centre would be opened every Sunday from 9.00am to 1pm. The recycled
items are newspapers, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. So far a total of
RM84.30 was collected from the sale on 11th Mar. The programme will
continue till Easter and if the response from the congregation is good, it
will be on-going. The money collected will be chanelled to the Parish Youth
activities.
Healthcare Campaign & Blood Donation Drive by the Love Squad

The Love Squad members were working tirelessly for the
Healthcare Campaign and the Blood Donation Drive. The promotion
for these 2 campaigns were made during the Launching of
the Lenten Campaign and during the Weekend Masses in 3
languages. The response from the congregation was very good
and encouraging to the Love Squad. For the Healthcare programme
more than 70 over people came for their medical checkup on Blood Pressure,
Breast Self-examination and also for BMI (Body Mass Index) that is
to see whether they are overweight. There was also a consultative
talk on Nutrition. The Blood Donation Drive was also very successful
with many people of all ages coming forward to donate blood. The taboo
of weakening one's health was discarded after the briefing by the
Taiping Hospital medical personnel. The Healthcare Programme and
the Blood Donation Drive were carried out in collaboration with the
Catholic Nurses' Guild (CNG) and Society of St Vincent De Paul (SSVP)
respectively.
