You’ve seen them in inner city Georgetown...vagrants sitting on the
pavements, begging for money...
the poor folks scavenging dustbins and vacated kopitiam table
for leftover food.

To minister to the homeless and hungry, The Lighthouse began
in the foregrounds of the  St Francis Xavier Church in Penang Road
on 19th March 2003 with 12 volunteers feeding tea and dinner
to 6 homeless folk 3 times a week.

Today, 90 ‘regulars’ come by The Lighthouse 5 days a week
and on rotation, 30 volunteers lend willing hands and glad hearts
to see to the preparation, cooking and cleaning up.

Ensuring stomachs are not empty is a good thing... But it’s not enough.
Which explains the birth of The Lighthouse 2 - Lightworks & Bright Sparks,
housed in a small shop lot in Green Lane Heights.
This dual-pronged ministry with the urban poor consists of:
