Feb 24th: Prayers for Justice and Peace in Perak & Malaysia
In response to the on-going political crisis in Perak and as a sign of solidarity
between all Perakeans, the PHDC of St. Michael’s Church (Ipoh) has started
running weekly prayer sessions for justice and peace in Perak and Malaysia
since 24th February 2009. The sessions are held every Tuesday at 8pm.
Venue: Our Lady’s Shrine, St. Michael’s Church (Ipoh).
The prayer sessions will continue until democracy is restored in our state.
All are welcome.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN SACRIFICE FOR THE LENTEN CAMPAIGN
The Penang Diocesan Lenten Campaign at St. Michael’s Church (SMC) was
made extra meaningful this year with the active participation of the teachers
and children from the Chinese and
second week of Lent, the children had been saving earnestly to fill up their
Love Offering money boxes.
The Love Offering money boxes were made by the PHDC Love Squad
before the start of the season. A total of 140 boxes was distributed to the
children. This was to actively involve them in the spirit of Lent through the
practice of self-sacrifice and helping those in need.
During the Palm Sunday morning masses, representatives from both schools
presented baskets containing the Love Offerings to SMC’s Parish Priest
Fr. Michael Cheah, to be offered up to God.

February/March 2008: Lenten Campaign - Lend A Hand
St. Michael’s Church (SMC) had its official launch of the 2008 Penang
Diocesan Lenten Campaign on Sunday 10 February
The launch was held in between the English and Chinese Sunday morning
masses to cater to both Chinese and English-speaking parishioners.
Parish Priest Fr. Michael Cheah was invited to be the first person to affix
his handprint and signature on the banner. Parishioners were then invited to
do the same under the guidance of the Love Squad members. It was a fun time
for both the young and evergreens. After the launch, the colourful banner was
prominently placed at the Parish Activities Centre where it will serve as a visible r
eminder throughout the campaign period.
