March 5: "Saya cantik" lenten reflection programme for
mothers at Kem Desa Pahlawan, Kota Baru
Approximately 30 catholic mothers, or wives of the military personnel at
Kem Desa Pahlawan were present at the annual lenten reflection session
organized by POHD.
The objective of the "Saya cantik" or " I am beautiful" reflection was to
assist the women, who spent most of their time as wives or mothers,
in recognizing their inner beauty.
The session began with a brief reflection on the role of Mother Mary as
the mother of God and also a strong woman who accepted the challenges
that come with the role.
Later, the women were asked to fill in the blanks of "I am beautiful because..."
stating ten reasons.
March 6: A session on Integral Human Development by
Bro John De Cruz
Bro John De Cruz, of the La Salle Centre, Ipoh, presented a session
on Integral Human Development: A social dimension to the parishioners of
Our Lady of Fatima, Kota Baru. Approximately 20 parishioners attended this
session, which was held after mass, and coincidently the installation of the
parish's new parish priest, Rev Robert Daniel.
March 6: Good Graces 3 for children of the parish
While their parents attended the session by Bro John, and the
youths attended a youth session, the children of the parish
attended the Good Graces programme for children.
This was module 3 which was the last of the series.
2008
February 21st- 24th: Formation at Kem Desa and parish
Staff of POHD once again visited the parish for its annual formations. On Friday morning, Lisa from Children's Ministry conducted the children's programme for children of the Military Camp Desa, while Susan from PHDC conducted a women's programme for the mothers of the children. After lunch, a brief Lenten formation was conducted for the youth of Kem Desa.
After lunch, another Lenten Formation was conducted for the parishioners and the Love Squad members.
The group who attended the formation were asked to complete an incomplete
figure and later explain what they added. This exercise was used as an analogy
to how Jesus responded to imperfect people during his time and how we respond
to imperfect people today.
The Love Squad members were also briefed on this year's campaign and given
the materials.
Saturday was a day for the children of the parish. About 26 children aged 6 til 12
participated in the Good Graces Module 1.3 youths from Penang volunteered in the
programme.
2007
March 1st-4th 2007: Formation on PHDC
The formators of the Children's Ministry and Parish Human Development
Committee (PHDC) together with the youth formators of the Penang
Diocesan Youth Network and Campus Ministry Office visited the parish
recently from 1st till 4th of March.
The formation sessions organized were An Introduction to PHDC for
the members of the PHDC as well as other ministries such as the Hospitality,
Ladies Group, Liturgy and others; Yesus dan Saya for the children at
Kem Desa and God's Little Helper for the children of the parish.
The PHDC consists of 4 active members and they are currently very involved in
a Moblie Clinic project at detention camps.
A briefing on the Penang Diocesan Lenten Campaign was also held for the PHDC
members and youths of the parish who later formed the Love Squad.
